8 HEALTH AND BEAUTY BENEFITS OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple Cider Vinegar has been around for over a decade, and it’s been scientifically proven to aid in a variety of health and beauty concerns: weight loss, high blood pressure, teeth whitening and even pesky breakouts. Check out the recap below from today's segment on FOX Chicago in case you missed it!
Here are 8 tried-and-true health and beauty benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar is jam-packed with Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which is a fancier phrase for exfoliation. The AHA stimulates the skin, increases cell turnover, and will shed dead skin cells that are just chillin’ on the skin’s surface. I encourage everyone to exfoliate at least 2 – 4 times per week to reap the benefits of a smoother and more radiant complexion. Additionally, using a toner can help rid the skin of any leftover residue that your cleanser missed.
If you have dandruff, and you’ve tried every possible remedy you can think of without avail, then I encourage you to squirt a little ACV on your scalp and watch it go to work. Simply pour the ACV into a spray bottle and apply directly to your scalp. Let the formula sit on the hair for about twenty minutes then rinse. Apply conditioner to the hair, or proceed with your regular hair care regimen.
ACV has been scientifically proven to kill odor causing bacteria, so substituting your over-the-counter deodorant just might be your new jam. And if you happen to be hypersensitive to fragrances or most drugstore brands, you might want to consider going natural with ACV.
How many red wine and coffee drinkers do I have in the house? Everyone would appreciate a brighter smile these days, so use ACV and a little baking soda in lieu of toothpaste, and watch what happens! Be especially careful with this formula; it’s acidic – and can cause the enamel on the teeth to break down. If you find that your teeth and gums are a bit on the sensitive side, you can buy ACV that’s diluted.
Boost Your Immune System
Okay. I know it sounds gross, but taking a shot of ACV can really boost your metabolism, spark your energy levels, and give your immune system a boost. AVC contains iron, vitamins A, C and E, so if you’re looking for an all-natural product that’s good for you AND really works, then bottoms up!
Clean Makeup Brushes
If you wear makeup as frequently as I do, then you must absolutely find the time to make sure that your brushes are clean. Sorry, y’all, but there’s no way around that. In a plastic bowl, combine ACV, dish washing detergent, or your favorite shampoo with warm water. Clean your brushes with your fingers, or use a soft bristle brush to get all of the gunk out. Let them air dry overnight, and repeat every 3 weeks or so.
Detoxify Your Skin
It’s no secret that I’m a stickler for healthy and beautiful skin, so of course I’m gonna take advantage of products that promise just that. Mix ACV with your favorite clay mask to deep clean your skin at least once a week. If you’re concerned about blackheads, have oily-prone skin, or frequent breakouts, think of the ACV as a ‘booster’ to whip your skin into shape. Leave the formula on for about twenty minutes, then moisturize.
Combat Razor Bumps and Ingrown Hairs
Razor bumps, and ingrown hairs are just as bad as acne. There. I said it. Okay, perhaps I’m being a little dramatic, but NONE of them are fun. The acid in the ACV with help to keep ingrown hairs at bay - and calm pesky razor bumps.
**EXTRA TIP**: Fellas can use ACV as an astringent post shave to soothe the skin and ward off razor bumps.
