6 BUDGET-FRIENDLY MASCARAS YOU NEED NOW!
Go BIG, or go home, y’all. That’s always been my beauty mantra, and I don’t anticipate that changing anytime soon. But don’t get it twisted: not all mascaras are created equally. Some formulas flake during the middle of the day, and others clump so badly, it’s hard to tell if you were purposefully going for the tarantula look, or not. Honestly, the best way to decipher good mascaras from the not so great ones is to first decide what you want it to do for you. Then decide on a price point, and stick to it. Trust me when I tell you that you don’t have to take out a new mortgage to get the lashes of your dreams.
Here are some of my favorite budget-friendly mascaras that actually work!
Maybelline's Colossal Big Shot Mascara
This product is one of the best drugstore formulas on the market. It doesn’t dry right away, so it gives you the liberty to apply as many coats as you’d like - clump free, of course. This mascara is perfect for peeps who need to revive their lashes from products that performed poorly in the past, or who simply want something versatile for both day and night. It retails for about $10 at CVS, Walgreens, or Target.
L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara
reminds me of one of those products that just keeps getting better with time. It’s been around since I was a teenager, and it hasn’t lost its appeal. If you’re someone who’s looking to add a double dose of volume and length to your lashes, then you can’t for wrong with this product. If you want color variations, need something super affordable and smudge-proof, then you have my complete blessing to give it a whirl. I think I paid about $6 for a tube at Target.
CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara
Easy, breezy, beautiful…y’all know the rest. CoverGirl has been around the block and back when it comes to beauty products, but they’ve always delivered when it comes to mascara. This formula gives your lashes an instant boost that just might stop folks in their tracks. I actually like the way this mascara performs as an adhesive right before you apply false eyelashes. It doesn’t clump, and since my lashes are stick straight, I’m especially grateful that I can skip the lash curler when I use this mascara. Grab one at your favorite drugstore for about $8.
NYX Double Stacked Mascara and Primer
Like drama? Lashes a little sparse? The NYX Double Stacked Mascara and Primer will get you all the way right. And since I’m a huge fan of primers, it makes the most sense to recommend one that’s affordable and that actually works. Click the link here to purchase your set.
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara
Celebrity Makeup Artists around the world would probably agree with me when I say the Full Exposure Mascara from Smashbox is all that and a bag of BBQ chips. A combination of synthetic and natural waxes keeps the lashes soft as you build coverage without doing the most. And guess what? This high-end mascara doesn’t come with a high-end price tag! You guys can grab one at Ulta for $23.
Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara
Are those your lashes, girl? Why yes. Yes, “they’re real.” Benefit Cosmetics launched this mascara about 5 years ago, and I’m still hyped about it! When I’m feeling ridiculously fancy – and don’t feel like putting on false eyelashes, this mascara is my go-to. Girlfriend, you can see my lashes from miles away! It’s high-impact, buildable formula is definitely worth the cost – forfeiting the pressures of applying falsies and messy eyelash glue. Who wouldn’t want those benefits? They’re Real Mascara retails for about $24, and you can always remind yourself that it’s okay to splurge a little, especially if it’s in the name of beauty.
