7 Bizarre Beauty Tricks That Really Work.

Nowadays when I sashay through SephoraUlta or a cosmetics department, I have to keep my cool when I see that mammoth of a price tag glaring back at me. I’m all like, “You want how much, for how much?” I mean, of course, beauty and skincare products have always been ridiculously expensive, but consumers are smarter than ever before, and thanks to the trusty ‘ol medicine or kitchen cabinet, you don’t have to break the bank to look and feel your best.

I stopped by WGN today to chat about some of my favorite beauty hacks that actually really work!

Did You Know: You can use deodorant as a makeup primer? Yep. That’s right. Any solid, anti-perspriant deodorant will do the trick. Simply roll the stick over your face, and bland away any visible chalkiness or harsh edges, and you’re ready to apply your foundation. Hell. Get fancy and use the shower-fresh scent.

Get a natural glow by applying your favorite blush underneath your foundation. Simply apply to apples of your cheeks, and keep it movin’.

I already know a lot of my makeup friends highly disagree with this tip, but sometimes when my makeup brushes are dirty, or I’m feeling lazy, I’ll use an ankle sock to apply liquid foundation. The finish is comparable to an airbrush finish, and you don’t have to spend a ton of money to look flawless. Pat, y’all, don’t rub.

The scotch tape method has been around for ages, but it’s especially essential if you’re new to the winged liner game. Take a small piece of tape and place it on the outside corners of your eyes, then trace the top line of the tape with your favorite liquid eyeliner. Complete the look, and drag the line over your entire lid. Cat eye = snatch.

Baking Soda is an old school health remedy that’s been around for centuries. From teeth whitening to dry shampoo, my all-time favorite trick is to use it as an exfoliator to remove blackheads. Using a small bowl, add about a tablespoon of baking soda and a half cup of water. Mix together until the substance is pasty. Apply over entire face and steam for about 10 minutes, then rinse. The entire process helps to remove excessive dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and makes the extraction process easier when getting a facial.

Are you an au naturale babe? Try fresh cut limes as deodorant. The lime juice serves as a detoxifying beauty formula and it neutralizes bacteria. No, you don’t need to extract the juice for it to be effective, but you should rub the limes back and forth under your arms to get the full effect.

Ah. I love me some good old fashioned butt glue. I used this stuff way back in the day when I competed in pageants to prevent my swimsuit from riding up. I also faithfully used it when I strutted down the runaway as a model. In lieu of insoles,  apply the butt glue to your shoes to keep your feet from sliding. It may sting a bit when it’s time to take your shoes off, but hey. No pain, no gain, right?
